Live a Long (Happy) Life

Exodus 20:12 says...honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you. This is the fifth of ten commandments (rules) that God left for us to follow. God wants us to honor and respect our parents. Why does God want us to honor our parents?...because He knows that our parents love us and that they only want the best for us. A parent will always look out for their children's safety. They want the best for them. I know sometimes we may feel they are invading our privacy and we feel we are capable of making our own decisions, but God knows parents will do only good things for their children. Did you know that out of all the ten commands that God left for us, this is the only one with a promise from God himself. Yes, God promises that we will live a long life. How? Why? Simple, if we obey our parents we will not get into trouble or do things that can harm our own bodies. Yes, if we obey them we will steer clear of bad influences..i.e...friends that influence us negatively. How is this promise true? If we listen to the advise of our parents we will live long because we will not do drugs..drive too fast..keep company with bad people etc... Our parents, as God, want us to live a happy life, and in turn have a prosperous life. I want you to be blessed by God, and to have a good relationship with mom and dad. Did you know they are the only powerful authority next to God that we will ever encounter here in this life. Mom and Dad love you , and so does our creator, God. ,,,:--)))
