The Value of a Man

In today's society the worth of a man has been ditorted. Many believe that a man is to be valued according to his material possessions. This contridictory to what the word of God says...What good is it if for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit (lose)his soul? Mark 8:36. In other words what God is saying is that it is to no avail if a man gains an abundance of material wealth, and in the process he loses his chance at eternity. His greed may lead him to lose the most important things in his life like his family and friends, but most importantly he can lose his relationship with God. Furthermore, 1st Timothy 6:10 states...For the love of money is the "root" of "all" evil. Some people eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. What this means is that many people become so obsessed with gaining a name for themselves, that they forget what matters most in their lives. Yes, it's true money can buy many things, but we cannot depend on money to give us true happiness. Ecclesiastes 5:10 also states...Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satified with his income. This too is meaningless. As goods increase so do those who consume them. And what benefit are they to the owner except to feast his eyes on them? So we can see that money cannot bring you true happiness. True happiness comes from having a relationship with our creator, God. Why is money the root of "all" evil or wrong? Because of the love of money many have risked their lives to gain it; because of greed many men have exchanged the most beautiful things they possess, their children and families. Loving your children is what matters most. Money cannot bring you happiness. This is what God says in His word...Ecclesiastes 3:12 says..I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live. Wow! This is what brings happiness to men. To do good or do the will of God. Happiness cannot come from what we possess externally. It is not found in material wealth. It comes from our hearts. If we know we are doing what God wants us to do then we are truly happy because we know that we are pleasing our creator, God. Therefore, a man's value comes from his heart. This is a man that must be praised and fully valued. One that lives honestly and has no greed in his heart, but is a loving, kind and sensitive individual. He is truly a man. A man worth far more than all the world's wealth. A man after God's own heart. Doing what is right, honest, and fair. A man with the heart of God.
